DVD films almost finalized! Satanic Panic and Portland Horror Film Festival™

Greetings, faithful cultists!

How the days fly by when you're working on a kajillion projects at once! It has been a while since we last brought you news from the abyss, and we've got a lot of info for you! Here's what's in this update:

An evening of Satanic Panic & 3rd Annual Portland Horror Film Festival™!

Tonight (May 21st), we're putting on a special one-night Satanic Panic event at the Hollywood Theatre. Tickets are still available if you're in the mood for some devil's burlesque, occult themed short films, and a rare screening of Asylum of Satan! We brought producer J. Patrick Kelly to Portland to give us a William Girdler history lesson and tell behind the scenes stories from the film!

Then, buckle up, because we're serving up 4-days of thrills and chills for our 3rd annual Portland Horror Film Festival™ June 13-16! Come see over 40 short films and features at the Hollywood Theatre!

Instead of doing a Kickstarter for Portland Horror Film Festival, we put together a Patron of Horror deluxe ticket package, available until May 31st. Limited to 100, this includes:

Best of 2017 DVD is almost finalized! 

We have been working on getting a fantastic bunch of films for the Best of 2017 Short Film Collection and are in the home stretch! Here's the list of confirmed films so far:

• Sound From the Deep 
• Wattmarck 
• Eldritch Code 
• Leviathan 
• There is No Door 
• The Transition of Juan Romero 
• The Doom that Came to Sarnath 
• Mary & Marsha in the Manor of Madness 

We are waiting for a couple of contracts to be signed, and then we can get to it - compiling the films, creating the menus, designing packaging, and sending it off the replicator. We're shooting for a July release.

H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival® coming to Providence in August! 

We haven't announced it officially because the venue has not been signed yet, but unless something goes horribly wrong there, we are bringing HPLFF back to Providence this August 17-19! Download Pack imminent! New Short Film Project: "Dagon"

Greetings, faithful Cultists! We are putting the finishing touches on the digital download pack and are shooting for having that ready this weekend. We'll be uploading it to Backerkit so that you can download it with minimum fuss. Once that's all set, we'll make another update with the details and how-tos.

NEW "Dagon" Short Film!

As you know, we heartily support indie adaptations of Lovecraft's work & every year we show several accomplished student films. Now, YOU can directly support one... pledge as low as 20£ (about $27) & you'll get to see the finished film. If only 40 of you pledge that much, they'll fund TODAY; they're only asking for $4000 to create a NEW cinematic adaptation of HPL's short DAGON. Support independent Lovecraftian cinema and check it out! (Note that we're not affiliated with the filmmakers in any way, we just like to support indie Lovecraftian projects because, well, we're fans and we love to see new adaptations!)

 

The standout thing about this project is that they're planning to use the breathtaking natural rock and wall formations of their home turf in North Cornwall and Devon. Their campaign ends at 4 am (PT) this Sunday, so if you'd like to see this as a finished film, hop on that now!

Shipping of rewards began in earnest on Wednesday, with batches going in the mail Thursday and Friday also! The overwhelming majority of backer rewards have now been shipped. Yay! We have some important notes about your rewards: 

Important T-shirt, Work shirt, and Hoody care

We all know how to wash our own clothes, but we want you to be able to enjoy your exclusive reward shirts as long as possible (since we'll never be printing the design again), so follow our easy tips to avoid degrading the print. Gwen printed your shirts, so we have the inside scoop!

This year’s T-shirts, Work shirts, and Hoodies were printed with a metallic gold ink, and a special glow in the dark ink. Both of these inks will last longer if you wash your garment in cold water and hang to dry or tumble dry on LOW or (better) NO heat. (Heat may degrade the glow in the dark ink and make the gold ink darken in color.) 

Heat is the enemy of screen prints! It's the dryer, over time, that causes cracked T-shirt prints, so the less you dry, the longer your screen print should last. Also, over drying can cause shrinkage, especially in hoodies. We recommend always hang drying both hoodies and work shirts.

However, if your print cracks, or pieces of it fall off the apparel item after the very first wash, that's probably our fault. This can happen due to undercuring the print, so contact us immediately, and we'll take care of it.

Examine your package contents completely! Look in the cups!

When you receive your package, be sure to open everything inside it! We packed smaller items like patches, pins, and badges inside the mardi-gras cup (both to protect the smaller items, and to help ensure the cup retains its shape), a small white envelope, or a smaller plastic bag to keep them safe. If you are missing any items, please let us know right away. Just in case, do not dispose of any packaging until you're sure you have all your rewards; it's easy to miss some of the smaller items in the packaging materials.

If you did not yet receive a shipping notification

Most rewards shipped, but some will ship in about two weeks, because we are waiting for our amazing etcher (Drink With The Living Dead) to finish hand-etching the rest of the glassware, and will be sending your rewards as soon as they are finished. It's a laborious one-by-one process that takes some time, but we expect to be able to finish shipping everything on or around November 6th.

We are putting together a fun digital download pack that will contain art and music for your enjoyment! Look for another update and email with a download code in mid-November.

Thank you again for supporting this year’s Festival through our Kickstarter campaign! We hope you enjoy all the special items we created, we had fun bringing you a taste of New Orleans! 

Your pledge helped support putting on the festival, by allowing us to afford the rental of the incredible Hollywood Theatre as our venue, license the big-screen exhibition of commercial films, bring out amazing guests like F. Paul Wilson, Barbara Steele, and Courtney Gains to take part in the fest, and to cover all the other little upfront expenses from wristbands to lanyards, marquee posters to PA rentals, and more. This gives us the ability to showcase the stellar lineup of independent Lovecraftian cinema, and by giving these films a venue, year after year, it also encourages filmmakers to continue to make Lovecraftian films that we can all enjoy.

You can see the order of cardboard boxes filling our car, Gwen and I sorting Mardi Gras beads, packing cups with beads and doubloons, as well as the stacks of boxes at the Post Office, with the help of the great Panda. We do it all by hand in our little workshop, to thank you for your support, and we love that you love the fun rewards and support the festival year after year!
